is crucial for people living with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society report “that winter can be a particularly difficult time for somebody living with dementia. The bad weather and colder temperatures can bring specific challenges, and can sometimes make symptoms temporarily worse.”
Dementia can impair the ability to recognise cold sensations, making them less likely to seek warmth. They may not dress appropriately for the weather or understand the need for layers. Furthermore for some people they might have reduced mobility which can make it harder for them to generate body heat.
At Tapestry Day Club, we create a warm, safe, and supportive environment, ensuring that our guests are comfortable and warm during their visit. We also emphasis to all our guests the importance of staying warm as the weather gets colder.
The Alzheimer’s Society provides some very helpful advice about staying warm this winter.
