Dementia doesn’t take away creativity

and our hosts are tapping into, not only their creative side but their guests as well, in the run up to Christmas.  There is card making, wreath building, bauble painting and gingerbread baking with decorating.

Engaging in crafts can provide numerous benefits for people living with dementia.  It promotes both emotional well-being and cognitive stimulation.

Craft activities engage different areas of the brain, which help to maintain cognitive functions like attention, memory, and problem-solving skills.   They can also be very calming and therapeutic, reducing anxiety, agitation, and even depression.   They also help to maintain fine motor skills like cutting, drawing and strengthen hand-eye coordination and dexterity, which can benefit daily tasks like eating or dressing.
