Dementia and the value of small group support

Do you know someone living with early stage dementia who is starting to feel isolated? Social isolation and anxiety can be a big challenge. But staying connected is incredibly important. In fact, engaging with others socially can actually help delay the progression of the disease.

At Tapestry Day Club, we’ve found that the smaller the group, the better. Large day centres can sometimes feel overwhelming. That kind of busy environment can easily increase anxiety for someone with dementia.

Our hosts use this small setting to provide activities specifically tailored to the guests’ individual interests and needs.

We use activities based around Cognitive Stimulation Therapy to keep minds active.  Stimulating the mind has been proven to slow the progress of the disease.

The small size allows guests to genuinely connect, share their life stories, and build strong, supportive friendships.

The focus is always on what our guests can do, not what they can’t. This helps them regain their confidence and find their voice again.

A day with a Us

We offer a different type of support, specifically to help improve interaction within small groups of up to six guests, in the family home of our hosts.

Supporting You

Caring for someone with early-stage dementia is a profound act of love. But it can also be emotionally, physically demanding and very isolating.
