Geoff

Geoff joined Tapestry Day Club in March 2023.  He initially joined our host, Kate, in Horsham for the first 9 months.  However, when an opportunity to join a male host arose, his wife was keen for him to move as Geoff needed to more mobile, active and with other men.

We spoke to Geoff’s wife soon after Geoff joined and she spoke about being able to breathe again, that there was some structure to her week, that help was on hand and she felt more able to cope.

Geoff has now been with Ian, our host in Southwater, for over a year.  Geoff plays a major part in the day, giving as much as he takes from the day.  He contributes to all the activities which range from quizzes to quoits in the garden.  He is welcoming of any new guest and always encourages and helps others to get involved in the activities or conversation.

Geoff’s wife reports that Ian needs little encouragement to get ready for the day, he enjoys attending and does so with enthusiasm.  On his return from the day, she talks about his upbeat mood, that he is happy, positive and his general wellbeing is excellent.

“Tapestry Day Club normalises something that is not normal, I have a day to feel that I can cope, that everything is normal as Geoff has his day where he is happy and active and I have my day. Sadly it does not last long enough but for a brief moment it feels like the old days.”
