Peter

Peter, now in his 90s, lives with his wife in Storrington and they have been married for over 60 years. They have raised three children and have six grandchildren. Two daughters who live overseas and their son who lives nearby.

Peter has always been a keen sportsman. He joined the Beds School of Tennis, receiving his professional coaching registration in his twenties. He set up Tennis Coaching International and travelled extensively during his working life.  Peter was diagnosed with dementia in 2021 even though his wife mentions that there were numerous signs of memory lost before that.  He does not acknowledge that he has dementia.

Prior to joining Tapestry Day Club, his wife struggled to get him out of bed, to engage with the day and to remain socially active.  Once up and about, he continued to sleep througout the day.

Peter joined Katie’s group in March 2023 and has been an active guest for over two years.  Katie encourages his sporting interests by activities that require competition and hand/eye co-ordination.  He is well known in the group to team up with someone less sporty and enjoys helping organise the more active activities such as quoits or table top curling.
