The name Tapestry Day Club was created to encapsulate the idea that everyone has a life story, a rich tapestry. And our guest Susan, is the perfect example of that.
Born in Liverpool, Susan grew up as only child, her younger brother having died in childbirth. She went to Edinburgh University to read English and initially found work at Liverpool University Press. She moved to London to join the Foreign Office to work in the information research department, where she remained for 10 years.
She met her Syrian husband in Beirut, where he was working having fled his home country. They lived in Beirut for a short while before returning to live in Wimbledon, where they raised their two sons, Francis and Zafer.
Susan lives on her own with her beloved black-and-white cat Doppie and joins Tapestry Day Club three times a week. She is a keen card player, loves any musical activities such as musical bingo and excels at challenging word and number games.
Tapestry Day Club provides a vital support as both Susan’s sons live overseas. Susan has a network of fantastic carers who work closely with us in the support of Susan.
