Our unique dementia day care in West Sussex and Surrey is provided in the safe, intimate setting of a host’s family home.
We know that social isolation is a major challenge for people with dementia. Interacting with children, such as a host’s own school-age family members, brings a wonderful energy.
Children bring a wonderful energy that is hard to match. Their natural curiosity and uncomplicated approach can bypass the anxieties and self-consciousness that sometimes affect our guests. Children live entirely in the moment, which is exactly where people with memory challenges often thrive.
There’s no pressure to remember things or engage in strained conversations. Instead, it’s about simple, shared experiences. The genuine warmth and excitement of a child can be incredibly uplifting, offering a natural mood boost for our guests.
Many of our hosts’ own school-age children will join in with activities and lunch during school holidays, and our guests genuinely love having them around.
This type of genuine, positive social interaction is proven to help delay the progress of the disease and postpone the move into a care home for as long as possible.
