Rosemary has worked in health and social care for nearly 60 years, having started her career as a home-help organiser in the East End of London. She took early retirement from East Sussex County Council at the age of 50, where she was a community services manager responsible for people with physical disabilities, including people with HIV and Aids.

In 1998, Rosemary bought her care home in Horsham for people over 65 and ran it until selling in 2022. She was so saddened at the lack of support and understanding of the social care sector that she immediately helped form the local care association, highlighting the needs of the most vulnerable people in our society. 

Rosemary was awarded the British Empire Medal in the King’s New Year’s Honours list for her life-long commitment to social care. 

To that end Rosemary now advises, supports  and lobbies on behalf of people needing social care and she is:

•   Chair of West Sussex Partners in Care.
•   A member of the West Sussex Safeguarding Adults Board.
•   A representative for social care providers on the NHS integrated care boards, including dementia, end-of-life and training boards.
•   Attending meetings regularly with the locally elected Members of Parliament as well as West Sussex County Council to highlight the challenges facing social care.
•   A member of the national Care Association Alliance.
•   A member of the regional South East Care Association.
•   A founder member of the North Horsham Dementia Cafe.
•   A postgraduate in person-centred care for people with dementia.
